Annelies van der Vorm

A sustainable ecologically minded entrepreneur and supporter of nonprofit organisations in the social and health care sectors, she is a founder and member of the board of the Fundaçao Nuarro Foundation.

Emma Schepens

A doctor who went to Nanatha for a hygiene project. She was amazed by how much you can do for the community in a short time together with the local people and with Feleciano. Because of the gratefulness of the community and the wonderful time she spent in Nanatha she wanted to stay in contact with the new volunteers and improve the current situation over there.

Hermi Herweijer

Having lived for 23 years in Southern Africa and worked for 14 years as fundraiser for an NGO with projects in Africa I feel very connected to the causes of Fundaçao Nuarro. My aim is to contribute to steer Fundaçao Nuarro towards a sustainable future.

Hanneke Pot

Medical anthropologist and applied psychologist with expertise in global health and development. For her master's thesis, she conducted research on sexual health together with young people in Nanatha. In 2019 she defended her PhD dissertation at the University of Oslo’s Faculty of Medicine. This research focused on the implementation of an NGO project aimed at reducing teenage pregnancies in Malawi.

Jacob van

Rijnsbergen

A medical student and most recent member of the Anan Clinica board.
After his medical internship with Anan Clinica in 2019 he immediately joined the organisation to remain involved with the projects and the people of Nanatha.

During his stay in Mozambique, his projects were mainly focussed on infectious disease and clean drinking water.

As a fresh board member he is looking forward to contribute to the organisation and guidance of volunteers.

Lieke Hallegraeff

An international business student, she was the first non-medical trainee at Fundaçao Nuarro. She set up a project focusing on financial and economic concepts in order to teach the local people the basics of money, saving and investing. As a member of the board, she helps find and train students who would like to continue these types of projects.

Jan Kleinjan

Jan Kleinjan is a doctor specializing in internal medicine. In 2015, he conducted a project in Nanatha focussed on raising awareness for hygiene and malnutrition. He has been a board member since 2017, supervising projects of medical volunteers. He is excited about the continuing progress in Nanatha through active participation of the Activistas from the community.

Bram

Berkelmans

A real nerd about all aspects when it comes to water- treatment and availability of this magic resource. As a graduate of Wageningen University and Research, he conducted fieldwork in the large irrigation system of Chókwè in Southern Mozambique, were he obtained Portuguese language skills. His involvement within AnanClinica focuses on clean drinking water, irrigation and food production for the community.

Our Vision
Harmony between nature and communities

We envision a future where healthy ecosystems and thriving communities exist in harmony. A future where restored forests, resilient oceans, and sustainable livelihoods form the foundation of a strong, empowered society. Fundação Nuarro strives to be a leading model for community-led conservation and development in Mozambique — a place where local knowledge, scientific innovation, and environmental stewardship come together to protect biodiversity and create pathways for a more equitable and regenerative future.

Our Partners

Working together with the best

The goal is to collaborate more with NGOs that are active in the area on the problems of Nanatha and their need for structural help.

We pursue to be a well-established base for different non-governmental organisations and public health campaigns and to implement programmes that concentrate on preventing diseases and promoting health, clean water, and better knowledge of agriculture.
